Call for Abstracts
Abstracts are integral to NACCS ASM and provide a platform for doctors and allied professionals at all career stages, to showcase their unique work. All successful abstract presenters will need to register to attend in person and will be eligible for early bird discount rate to attend (if they are NACCS members).

How to Submit
The deadline for submissions is Friday 6th March 2026 at 12:00 (midday) Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). We will not be able to accept late submissions for any reason.
Please complete all sections of the form. All correspondence about the submission will be sent to the main author. You have 2000 characters in total to complete the following sections about your work.

The best abstracts submitted by medically qualified resident doctors will be invited to make an oral presentation during the free paper session, unless the submission specifies for poster only.
All accepted abstracts are eligible for the poster prize. A shortlist will be made during the meeting, and to be eligible for the prizes.
The first author must be available to present the poster to a panel of judges.
The highest ranked poster presented by a first author who is an allied health professional will be eligible for an additional prize.
Abstracts accepted for presentation during the oral free paper session will be asked to produce a poster for display at the meeting, but are not eligible for the poster prize.
There will be four categories this year:
- Audit and Quality Improvement
- Research
- Case report
- Survey
Marking Criteria
All submissions will be marked anonymously by more than two reviewers. Each reviewer will score each of the following criteria out of 5:
- Novelty/originality
- Clarity
- Significance/Impact/Relevance to clinical practice
- Methodology
Once marking is complete, the average score of the all reviewers will be taken and submissions will be ranked from the highest to lowest scoring. The type of presentation offered is dependent on where the submission falls in the overall ranking.
Presentations/Prizes
The top three submissions will be invited to give an oral presentation on the morning of Thursday 7th May 2026. Selected Posters will be invited to present on Thursday 7th May 2026 (13:00-14:00).
Prizes will be awarded based on the opinion of the judging panel. Awards will be presented at the end of the day on Friday 8th May 2026.
- Harvey Granat Award for best oral presentation: £400 – Runner up: £200
- Poster prizes: Winner (£200) – Runner up (£100)
- Best poster for allied professional: £50

Top scoring abstracts will be published in The Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology (JNA).
Topics
Topics may be related to either adult or paediatric practice.

Once you have submitted it you will receive an email confirmation direct from our submission system. If you do not receive this within 15 minutes of submission, please check your junk/spam mail. You will not be able to make amendments to your abstract after the submission.
Abstracts will be reviewed throughout March 2026. The author who submitted the work will be notified whether their submission has been successful or not by Tuesday 13th April 2026. This email will include information about how to present your work.
Once your abstract is accepted ensure you register for the meeting.
FAQs
Yes, you may submit as many abstracts as you like, however please discuss submission with any co-authors to avoid repeat submission of the same abstract.
Yes, you can choose of you want to be considered as poster only. If you choose the oral presentation/poster option – submissions are marked all together as a group. The top scoring abstracts will be awarded an oral presentation, with the next group offered a poster.
No, all abstracts must be submitted via our online system by clicking the link above.
No, we welcome submissions from anyone regardless of what stage they’re at in their career.
Yes, at least one of the authors should be a NACCS member.
No, once you submit your abstract, we are unable to accept any changes.
You can add co-authors at the time of submission.
Yes, you can withdraw your abstract at any time before the submission window closes at 12:00 (midday) GMT on Friday 6th March 2026. If you wish to withdraw your submission once marking has taken place, please respond to your notification email to let us know you no longer wish to present your work at [email protected]
Yes, if your abstract is accepted and you wish to present you work, you will have to register and pay to attend the conference. However, a discount on standard fees is available for abstract presenters. NACCS is unable to reimburse travel expenses and accommodation.
Posters will be displayed electronically for the duration of the conference. However you will not be given a specific time to present. We would encourage you to stand near to your poster during break times in case other delegates have questions about your work.
All abstracts offered an oral presentation will automatically be submitted to the JNA for publication.
At least one of the authors of the abstract needs to be registered and attend the conference in order to present your oral presentation or present your poster, however it does not need to be the main author. If it is not the main author attending, please ensure you inform the NACCS events team.
As long as one of the authors is registered for at least one day of the conference then work will be able to be presented. Please note that for oral presentations you will need to be registered for the day which your presentation is scheduled to take place.
No, we’re not able to accept published work.
Yes, certificates will be sent by email to all authors, listed on the submission form within 10 working days of the end of the conference.
